Our Story
Green Hills Grille proves that dining doesn’t have to be pretentious. Located just south of downtown Nashville in the heart of its namesake, the restaurant is both a local hangout and a destination of choice for those visiting the Green Hills neighborhood.
A beloved Nashville go-to spot for 20 years, the original Green Hills Grille closed its doors in 2008 but reopened to much fanfare in a new location in 2015. Its casual, California-revival style and classic, high-quality fare make Green Hills Grille excellent for any occasion. First dates, anniversaries, family gatherings, business lunches, weekend brunches, late-night soirees or simply a good meal are all reasons to visit Green Hills Grille.
The revitalized menu includes many updated twists, but longtime enthusiasts will recognize familiar favorites like the tortilla soup, chicken salad melt, Santa Fe chicken and smoked chicken enchiladas. Newer menu items include hand-cut steaks and the BBIGH – the “Best Burger in Green Hills. – A full bar adjoins the 175-seat restaurant and 40-seat patio, offering both the usual standbys and handcrafted cocktails.
Restaurateur Steven Smithing is no stranger to Green Hills Grille, having worked there in the 90s as a server and bartender and ultimately as general manager. Also the owner of Brentwood-based Mere Bulles, Steven has worked in the restaurant business since his first dishwashing job at age 16.
Steven’s brother, Christopher Smithing, is also a familiar face at Green Hills Grille and returns to serve as head chef. He spent six years at the original location and is also the current executive chef and general manager at Mere Bulles.
Green Hills Grille is located in the Greenbriar Village Shopping Center at 2002 Richard Jones Road and serves lunch and dinner seven days a week with brunch available on Saturday and Sunday.
